"...the more we learn the more we see that other animals are smarter and more creative than we give them credit for, or perhaps ever imagined. NAIL TRIMS are just another TRICK!

What does clipping your dog's nails, AGILITY, LOOSE LEASH WALKING and PUPPY SOCIALIZATION CLASS have in common?

*You both need to work together and communicate in order to enjoy the experience or else it can be frustrating and stressful for the both of you.

In our case, all my dog's "obedience" and "agility" cues were taught through positive interactions, loads of fun and games, so for us... husbandry skills...are just another trick!

Each puppy or dog has their own levels of comfort, tolerance and ways of dealing with stressful interactions or events.  It's important to take a good look at your furry pal when they're happy and relaxed and note on the flip side when they begin to stress out.

GVH.ca has a terrific puppy socialization class!  Dr. Honey and Dr. Dattolico speak of important veterinary information to ensure your pup lives a healthy life. Also go over husbandry and handling skills.

It's important to ensure that puppies are not only socialized to other puppies and get to rough house with them, but are socialized to people and handling  as well.

I get to go over how to jump start your basic obedience cues, how to prevent guarding behaviours, appropriate social skills and things like how to make handling...you guessed it...FUN!

"Training" a puppy or dog by building a history of positive interactions as a means to communicate, means they are more likely to enjoy learning something new. Better yet, they'll trust you to walk them through something that may NOT be on their list of doggie priorities...BUT...when taught using positive methods becomes JUST another fun thing you two enjoy together.
