LET'S GO! - Taking agility tricks and handling skills on the road to practice polite loose leash walking!

I have to blame Dogsmart for making "Obedience" work FUN!

I have witnessed far too many punishment based training techniques being used out here in Squamish.  I am often shocked to see people go from being relaxed, happily enjoying a conversation, to enraged in the next second. The owner's actions become threatening and aggressive, when a dog performs a natural doggie behaviour and leaves heel position to sniff or gets caught up in the excitement of the environment.

It's heart breaking to watch dogs being pinned, leashes jerked, or having their owners growl, grab scruff of neck, collar and hold while leaning into dog's face to yell "no!".  It's as if some people don't even  realize there's an alternative more efficient and benevolent means to communicate their wishes.

For those looking to teach their dogs how to enjoy LOOSE LEASH WALKING and FOCUS;  I've got LOADS of FUN techniques to share! Absolutely no need for that other stuff.

Please see Dr. Sophia Yin's Statement for more information regarding "Dominance" based training methods, how outdated and unnecessary they are.

LOCATION- Various locations around Squamish, BC

EMAIL OR PHONE TO  register in advance, limit to 3 puppies/dogs per group. I don't believe that a large class is appropriate when you're looking to fine tune walking and attention skills asap. Walking and attention when out and about is one of the toughest challenges that dog guardians face. All too often I see people give up. I'm here to make the learning curve fun for both of you.

PUPPY PRIVATE CONSULT AND WALKS:
$20/HR
*For those who have not taken Garibaldi Veterinary Hospital puppy socialization classes, I'd love to sit down with you, and provide you with the basics before joining our group walks.

GROUP WALKS COST:
$50 for 4 classes/ month.
*Call or email in advance.
WHEN: Saturday MORNINGS!

10am - 11:00am for Puppies  5 months - 1yr
*Full of beans, these youngsters need time to hang with those of similar interests...cute puppy/adolescent antics go hand in hand with learning how to follow your benevolent lead!

MISFITS!
*For those who have graduated a reactive dog class, I have
walks customized for you!
Prerequisite: If you've completed either Dogsmart Reactive Dog Class or Bad Dogs Gone Good, privates and breakfast club, and are looking to continue to hone your leash skills in a safe setting, I've got a great 4 wk set up for you too! If you've taken classes elsewhere, give me a shout.  I'd be happy to sit down and do a private consult prior to the group setting to catch you up to speed on the basics.

TRAINING METHODS - Using an Event Marker,"YES!","GOOD!","CLICK!" to capture a behaviour we'd like the dogs to repeat. I'll also show you how to introduce hand signals, use body language and add verbal cues. That way it's easy for the dog to remember what we'd like them to do, and when we'd like to see it happen. We'll always pair it up with their favourite things in life for a job well done.

We'll use toys, treats, your enthusiasm and cuddles, to speed up their learning curve. Pairing what they love with something you'd like them to do is an easy, efficient means of communication. You and your dog will have fun!
